The CAT is a "not for profit" event. A total of £1000 was raised by the event in 2011 to support promising young athletes from the area, particularly important in these hard times when the cost of training and equipment can be a significant barrier to developing the wealth of talent in the strath. As in previous years we had a particularly hard time selecting from a very impressive line up of talented young sports people. In the end awards were made to snowboaders Jamie Trinder and Andrew Forwood. This enabled them to go to the British Freestyle Snowboard Team Training Camp in Laaz, Switzerland, in March 2012. Jamie achieved a fantastic 2nd place in the Big Air Event at the British Championships at Laax, his first competition outwith the UK.
Jamie Trinder remarked:
"It's fantastic to have such great support from a local event like the Cairngorm Adventure Triathlon. The funding has enabled me to achieve my snowboarding success in the past season and I would urge any young sports person with ambition to progress in their sport, to apply for funding from the CAT."
Andrew Forwood comments:
“Without the money from yourselves I wouldn’t have been able to maintain my training throughout the season and progress as much as I did and for that I am extremely grateful.
If you would like to see more of what I have been up to you can find that on my blog – www.andrewforwood.wordpress.com Please feel free to have a look at it”
